The California apricot industry is now shipping all containers
with only the numerical size designation given.
The numerical designation (recapped in detail, below) is based
entirely on count per pound, as measured in a minimum weight combined
sample. This should simplify ordering and help in properly identifying
the California apricots when they are received.
Also below is a chart containing photographic depictions of the approximate size of the
apricots in each weight category. The actual size will depend on the configuration of the
different varieties of apricots shipped, ripeness, specific gravity and other factors.
However, the sizes shown can serve as a rough guide for quick identification purposes.
Tray packs sizes will continue to be identified by actual fruit count. All volume fill
containers must now be packed in 24-lb. net weight lugs.
